The current owner of Buckman Iron & Metal Co., Inc., Arnold Buckman, has played a pivotal role in modernizing the company. Under his leadership, all locations were upgraded with state-of-the-art Caterpillar hydraulic cranes, replacing outdated cable cranes. These advanced machines are outfitted with 1500-ton LaBounty shears, capable of cutting beams and other materials up to 1½ inches thick.
In 2021, the LaSalle facility was relocated to a modern, state-of-the-art building at 85 Chartres St., where the company introduced the first drive-thru scrap recycling facility in Northern Illinois. This innovative setup allows families to conveniently drive in, unload their metal recyclables, get paid, and exit, all without having to leave their vehicles or face the elements.
Now, Buckman Iron & Metal Co., Inc. is proudly entering its fifth generation of leadership, with Arnold’s daughter, Lilah Buckman, helping to run and manage the business continuing the family’s long-standing legacy of innovation and service.
